Morning routines are guaranteed to change your life. That’s why the first question I asked my crush when we got talking was “What’s your morning routine like?”

You see, I hope to get married to this particular crush one day and I want to make sure that I marry someone who has a great morning routine.
Having a morning routine is great because it helps you to get focused on what’s important to you so that you can live an intentional life.
If you truly desire to live a tremendous life in 2023 and beyond, both in business and in life, it’s important that you have a morning routine.
Your morning routine will be heavily based on the kind of life you lead and the work you do.
For instance, athletes have morning routines that are peculiar to them, and so do musicians.
As someone whose business is predominantly online, you’ll be spending a huge chunk of your time in front of a screen.
A great morning routine helps you to set things straight mentally so that you don’t get burnt out.
As an online business owner, here are a few morning routines guaranteed to change your life.
Sleep + Wake Up Early
This is a no-brainer, when you sleep early, you wake up early.
But before I start speaking like a holier-than-thou, I want you to know that even I don’t sleep early.
I’m either working into the night or I’m watching a movie.
But I’ll say this, I’ve tried it before and it’s the best thing ever, but, it requires a lot of discipline.
When you sleep early, you wake up early and you feel well-rested, you are focused on the task ahead of you.
You are able to produce more because your mind is clear and you’re fully ready for the day’s work.
Apart from that, sleeping early also helps to reduce your risk for chronic diseases like hypertension, heart failure, and so on.
When I read the book 5 am Club by Robin Sharma, he explained the miracle of waking up early, mastering it and totay changing your life.
He further explained that it won’t be easy at first but with the methods he mentioned in the book, it is easily conquerable.
Don’t just wake up early and grab a book or start working right away, you still need to exercise so that you can shake the sleep off your body.
There’s a whole list of mindful things you can do when you wake up at 5 am, they are all in the 5 am Club book, and I recommend that you get it.
Read Something
Speaking of reading, read something every morning, whether that’s your Bible, a devotional, or any good book.
Just make sure you read something for at least 30 minutes every morning.
Because of the hustle and bustle of the day, sometimes you can go for months without reading a good book.
And as someone who spends most of their time online, you’d have gathered a lot of junk from the things other people have shared online.
For example, when I log into Twitter, I immediately start seeing appalling tweets from people who don’t think before they tweet.
But thank God, you can now control your Twitter experience.
You can mute, block and filter notifications. Just read this article by Twitter here.
The only way to read a good book and learn something new is to be deliberate about it.
And the best way to be deliberate is to put it in your morning routine.
Eat Breakfast
Another confession, I don’t eat breakfast, but before you judge me hear me out.
I usually don’t have an appetite in the morning, when I do, it’s very rare.
But I make sure that I take a heavy lunch, something that will knock me out when I’m done with it. LOL.
Part of my 2023 resolution is to start eating breakfast because people who skip breakfast tend to have higher blood cholesterol levels—a risk factor for heart disease.
I studied Biochemistry in the University, and I can vividly remember, from one of my courses, that the body’s energy source is glucose.
When you take breakfast, your stomach digests the food, and the carbohydrate (sugars and starches) in the food then breaks down into another type of sugar, called glucose.
The stomach and small intestines absorb the glucose and then release it into the bloodstream.
Once in the bloodstream, glucose can be used immediately for energy or stored in our bodies, to be used later.
The reason you feel drudgery every time you skip breakfast is because your body has no source of energy.
You can never meet your recommended daily intake of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, the body’s most essential nutrients if you skip breakfast.
But enough of my biochemical prowess. Now you know why you should take breakfast.
By breakfast, I don’t mean downing a bowl of cereal into your throat.
A great home-cooked meal that is light, or preferably fruits and vegetables are just the right option for you.
The book Hallelujah Diet teaches you how to regain your health by taking just fruits and veggies. Make sure you check it out.

Listen to a Podcast Episode
My second favourite thing to do in the morning after studying my Bible is to listen to a podcast episode.
I remember in September of this year, I was teaching a content creation class and I spoke briefly on podcasts as a content creation medium.
To my surprise, many people from the audience didn’t understand what I was talking about.
They had not heard the word ‘podcast’ before and so they didn’t know what I was talking about.
A podcast is typically a digital audio file that you listen to using a podcasting medium.
Example of podcasting medium is Spotify, Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, anchor, and so on.
The cool thing about podcasts is that you can listen to them while multitasking.
The greatest advantage of listening to podcasts (as opposed to watching television) is that you can listen on the go.
I plan to start my own podcast in 2023, I’ve really digested this book on podcasting
I like to listen to podcasts when I’m doing chores, and the best thing is they make me look forward to doing chores.
I get ideas from what other people have created and have spoken about when I listen to podcasts.
For instance, when I listen to podcasts on online business creation, Social media, or Online course creation, they inspire me to create my own content and equip me with more knowledge about what I plan to share.
It’s a great educational tool because you get to listen directly from experts and not through mediums that have been re-written or re-produced so many times that they’ve lost their originality.
Listening to podcasts makes your brain twice more active because it stimulates your imagination and finally, you get to reduce screen time.
Take a Walk
For some of us, the only time we get up from our desks is when we want to go get food or drink water.
Many people who work remotely hardly go on walks and this is really bad for their health.
If you work remotely, I know you can get bogged down with work almost all the time so going for a walk is not an option.
Walking is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health. Just 30 minutes every day can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance.
Even dogs take necessary walks, why not you as a human being?
If you are always so busy with work that you hardly find time to walk, what you need to do is to fit it into your schedule.
I like to take a walk in the early hours of the morning when I decide not to work from home.
So what I do is, rather than take transport to my workstation, I just take a walk to the closest place and while doing that, I enjoy some of the vitamin D of the morning sun.
A brisk stroll brings up the heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and strengthens the heart muscle, all while giving us a healthy glow.
Find what works for you, just make sure that you take about 30 minutes walks at least 3 times a week.
Just make sure it’s part of your morning routine.
Journal + Write Something Down
Many people have said journaling helps to clear your head.
I say journaling helps you release all the anger, thoughts, ideas, etc. inside you.
Journaling is especially good in the morning, this is because your subconscious mind strays when you sleep.
All the things that have happened during the day start playing around in your mind while you sleep and when you wake up, you wake up with so many thoughts.
But rather than put those thoughts down, a lot of people go through the day with so many things on their minds.
When you wake up, your mind is swimming with thoughts from the previous night.
When you write off the top of your head first thing in the morning, the words that spill out onto the blank page will no longer be taking up space in your brain, and you can approach the rest of the day with more clarity.
Want to unleash your creativity? Wake up every morning and write down things that pop into your head.
Apart from this, being devoted to writing things down every morning is also beneficial to your mental well-being.
Look, life can sometimes be overwhelming and the only way to process emotions well is to write something down.
For a while, I wasn’t really in a good place. I had a lot of expectations that were not coming through and instead of transferring aggression or being super cruel, I would articulate my thoughts and arrange them in my journal.
To me, that was synonymous with screaming at people. All the releases I needed happened on the paper I was writing on.
When you are journaling in the morning, make sure that you stay away from any kind of distractions, like the tv, your phone, or other people.
This is the best way to include it in your morning routine.
When you have the best book for journaling, you’ll always look forward to it.
Conclusion
So, long story short, my crush and I spoke about our morning routines and we are in sync.
If you want to live your best life, you need a great morning routine.
Morning routines are guaranteed to change your life.
